Crowcombe Heathfield
20" x 30". Alkyd. 2001
A view on the West Somerset Railway, c.1997. New houses
have since been built to the right of the line. The station name-board
shown here has been replaced. The shelter in the foreground was
erected in 1996 and painted in GWR colours the following year. The
loco (6412) was, I believe, undergoing an overhaul in 1997, but
it is so right for the scene that I decided to include it.
Visit the web site of the West
Somerset Railway, Britain's longest and (they claim!) most lovingly
restored heritage railway. The line runs from Bishops Lydeard, near
Taunton, past the Quantock Hills northwards towards the Bristol
Channel coast at Minehead.
