The Palace of Westminster
30"x20". Alkyd. 1991
Oliver Cromwell stands guard over the oldest part of the Palace - Westminster Hall.
It survived the 1834 fire, which destroyed most of the old Palace, and the bombing of
1941 which destroyed the Commons chamber. In its 900 years of continuous use many famous
trials have taken place here including those of Thomas More, Charles I and the Gunpowder
Plot conspirators.
