Paintings of the surface of water, with reflections. Sounds familiar? It's difficult to paint this subject without thinking about Monet and his water lilies. I paint moments in time, the water 'frozen' to reveal the almost abstract patterns and shapes that form for a moment and then change. Photographs are essential to provide a 'working' image, but I feel free to change what the camera sees. Sometimes the result is an image which is more abstract than the original, with flattened tones or altered colour. I try to keep the basic design, though.
